The fact that the gorilla-cop rider kisses a picture of his girlfriend for good luck. The little alien girl and her dad who is just super into the race here. The Roboworld workers who just want to watch the race and make bets so they just…fucking start a revolution to do it. The waiter from the restaurant is an angry, snobby guy but also super into making his customers happy (the Alien Sanji). So there is a TON of characters in this movie, whether main cast or supporting role, and they all seem to have great moments in them. Told us a bit about the characters in a way that doesn’t slow down the movie or makes you less immersed in it. They actually did this news cover TV Promo where we meet/talk to the racers individually to see what their personalities are, as well as it just being one long infomercial. We might not have a long introduction to who the other racers are, but the movie doesn’t sell them short either. Former army soldiers of the same planet the race is on. Would-be criminals that got arrested by said cop. A Doom-looking guy that literally turns into his machines. We have bounty hunters fighting criminals. But Wacky Races does it better.” Why you may ask? Well, it’s the characters.Įvery one of these racers are as weird and as batshit as the rest. You might be thinking: “Gee, this sounds all well and good, but doesn’t this sound a bit like Mario Kart?” and I would say, “Yes. (Also, a moment of silence for the president and generals of Roboworld. Then we get the actual race track which is an alien planet where the military is actively trying to kill them, so they have guns, lasers, soldiers, and monsters to deal with WHILE attacking each other. The only person who actually drives a car is JP, which Kudos to him. One looks like the batmobile, another looks like a louse (like the actual insect louse), and one ended up turning to a dance mecha. Guns, missiles, grappling hook, anything and everything is available in this here race! Then we get just how batshit the vehicles are. There is literally no rules for screwing opponents over. When I say it’s Alien Wacky Races I mean it. There was even flashbacks to when they were kids! So we see them just work together to make JP’s car ready and prepared for the badass REDLINE. Which is cool because they have been really close for a long time. So we get not only an arc with him, but his best friend Frisbee, they guy that is fixing the race here as well. Doesn’t really care about that, he just really likes racing. Turns out our dude works in the mafia, or at least has a deal with the mafia to fix races. We follow JP who we first get introduced to during an earlier qualifier race. And that is only for the regular racing bit. And that smear affect in the cover? Yeah, they use it in the movie and it is done BEAUTIFULLY! God it makes you feel like you’re pushed back into your seat. You see every motion and detailed captured like it’s in high definition. Everything is just so detailed without it being cluttered. This movie is a HELL of a lot of fun to watch.
